Our favorite white hues displayed in real homes as inspiration for your next project.
Is it just me or is it very overwhelming to pick a white paint? White paint should be easy to select, but with many variations it's easy to slip into a state of decision paralysis.
That's the white paint dilemma. Can you actually pick the wrong shade of white? Have you ever seen a white paint you truly hated? If you don't know what a wrong shade looks like, how can you tell which shade is the right choice?
Lucky for you, we've created a list to help you narrow down the options based on interior designer recommendations, trending colors, and popular home inspiration websites. Below you'll find 17 white paint colors that the Craftwork team loves in 2023.
1. Pure White
Plank & Pillow used Pure White from Sherwin-Williams on their interior walls, trim, and ceiling, as seen in this image. Pure White has a slight hint of yellow, but fits perfectly into any space. I've used this white in my own home and highly recommend if you're looking for a brilliant, bright white.
2. White Diamond
The nursery of this 1912 row house in NYC is painted in White Diamond by Benjamin Moore, featured in Apartment Therapy. The paint company describes the color as a "sparkling white brightened with a hint of blue."
3. Fresh Kicks
Featured in Better Homes and Gardens and Havenly's favorite white paint list, Fresh Kicks by Clare is an interior designer favorite. According to Clare's founder, Nicole Gibbons, the bestselling white paint is one of her favorite paints.

4. Eider White
Color of the Month August 2021, Eider White by Sherwin-Williams is a very light greige that can work in any space. Although it's not the easiest white paint name to pronounce, it looks like a paint that can fit into any aesthetic.
5. Balboa Mist
Shapeless Studio architects and designers Jess Hinshaw and Andrea Fisk used Balboa Mist from Benjamin Moore in a Brooklyn bathroom they designed, featured in this image and in Apartment Therapy.
"The bathroom doesn’t get any natural light, so she wanted it to feel light and airy. It’s kind of a nice break; it feels very fresh and clean, like a different mindset," said Fisk.
6. Alabaster
The Renovation Husbands, a husband design and DIY team, painted the kitchen in their renovated Victorian Alabaster by Sherwin-Williams, featured in the left photo. Harper House, featured in right photo, used the warm yellowish-white paint in their bathroom.
If you're looking for the perfect white for a farmhouse interior design aesthetic, look no further than Alabaster.
7. Polar Bear
Polar Bear by Behr, featured in Better Homes and Gardens best white paint list, looks like heaven in this shiplapped room. According to the magazine, Behr's Vice President of Color and Creative Services Erika Woelfel calls this hue "a clean and clear white" that can help rooms feel more spacious.
8. Strong White
I am glad I was able to find a picture of the same paint in two rooms that were lit differently, so you can see how natural light can drastically alter the color. The hallway on the right, painted in Strong White, is from Farrow & Ball's inspirational photo gallery, with the door painted in Down Pipe.

One of Sherwin-Williams top 50 paints, this mushroom-sounding white is a definite winner.
15. Simply White
Natalie Jacob from Arsenic Lace painted Simply White by Benjamin Moore through her entire New Jersey apartment. Her home, featured in Apartment Therapy, is covered in color through wallpaper and pops of other paint shades, and Simply White is the perfect complement.
