Our Designer's Top 9 Vintage and Antique Home Stores in Charlotte
Our designer shares their favorite Charlotte spots for vintage and antique treasures to elevate your home.
If you're reading this, you're itching for the modern-day hunting and gathering Saturday activity: finding antique and vintage home decor. There's nothing better than loading up on coffee and spending the day looking for that unique item you can't get anywhere online. Lucky for us, Charlotte has some absolute gems when it comes to vintage and antique shopping and I'm excited to share with you my go-to's.
1. Clearing House (Elizabeth)
Situated on Central Avenue, Clearing House is my favorite spot. It is known for its fine home furnishings, original artwork, and complete decor sets. They regularly consign all styles and types of furniture, specializing in quality smaller items such as crystal, china, paintings, and accessories for your home. I routinely stop by this place anytime I'm nearby just to check out the new items they've collected.
What to look for: Fine furniture, artwork, and kitchen accessories.
2. Sleepy Poet Antique Mall (South Boulevard)
If you haven’t been to Sleepy Poet yet, are you even from Charlotte? This place is a local legend. It’s huge—like, set aside a few hours and wear comfy shoes huge. Luckily it has a bathroom. You’ll find everything from original artwork to antique mirrors to a chair from the 1800's. The variety here is unmatched, and honestly, it’s a great spot for inspiration even if you’re just browsing.
What to look for: Statement lighting, retro decor, and quirky art.
3. The Depot at Gibson Mill (Concord)
Technically this one’s in Concord, but it’s worth the short drive. The Depot is one of the largest antique malls in the South, and it’s packed with treasures. Think farmhouse tables, industrial-style shelving, and those one-of-a-kind pieces that make your friends say, “Where did you find that?!”
What to look for: Rustic decor, antique kitchenware, and architectural salvage.
4. Salvation Army Family Store (Plaza Midwood)
Also on Central Avenue, the Salvation Army Family Store offers a wide range of gently used items, including furniture and home decor. It's a great place to find budget-friendly pieces that can be transformed with a little creativity. We've even found a brand new sauna!
What to look for: Affordable furniture, home decor, and unique finds.

7. Classic Attic (Park Road Shopping Center)
Tucked away in the Back Court of Park Road Shopping Center, Classic Attic offers a curated selection of preowned furniture, home accents, and vintage finds. Their higher-end inventory ensures you'll find one-of-a-kind pieces to add quality and style to your home.
What to look for: Quality furniture, home accents, and original artwork.
8. South End Exchange (South End)
Located on New Bern Street, South End Exchange features a mix of antiques and designer home furnishings. Their inventory includes everything from china and crystal to lighting and rugs, catering to a variety of styles and preferences. A bit pricier, but can often find pieces in brand new condition.
What to look for: Designer home furnishings, antiques, and unique accessories.
9. Habitat for Humanity ReStore (Wendover)
With several locations in the Charlotte area, including Wendover, Wilkinson, and Pineville, the Habitat ReStore offers a variety of gently used large furniture, lighting, kitchen items, appliances, and really anything you could need. Including toilets, sinks, tile, and tools. (I like to visit the one in Wendover) Proceeds support Habitat for Humanity's mission, making it a great place to find unique items while giving back to the community.
What to look for: Gently used furniture, appliances, and home improvement items.
Why We Love Mixing Vintage with Fresh Paint
Incorporating vintage and antique pieces can transform a freshly painted room, adding character and a sense of history. A bold, high-gloss black cabinet paired with an antique gold-framed mirror creates a stunning focal point. Or imagine a soft white bedroom wall accented with a vintage wooden dresser—perfection. These stores will help you achieve that "collected over time" look.
Pro Tips for Shopping Vintage and Antique in Charlotte:
Come with measurements.
Trust me, there’s nothing worse than falling in love with a piece that won’t fit in your space.
Be patient.
Finding the right item might take a few trips, but that’s part of the fun!
Ask about local delivery.
Some of these stores partner with movers or offer delivery services, which is a lifesaver for bigger pieces.
